SAP Basis Basics Part 44
Running Software Provisioning Manager without root user password
You can use the sapinst parameter SAPINST_REMOTE_ACCESS_USER to allow a non-root user to connect to sapinst.
This feature is useful if the person performing system provisioning with Software Provisioning Manager does not know the system’s root/administrator password (for example, on Linux when using ‘sudo’ to become root).
Further, if the root/administrator user is a domain user or if it is restriced regarding login methods, ‘SAPINST_REMOTE_ACCESS_USER’ might be necessary for a successful basic authentication in the browser.
